San Jose is the third-most populous city in California (after Los Angeles and San Diego) and the tenth-most populous in the United States, with a current population of over 1 million residents. Located in the center of the Santa Clara Valley, on the southern shore of San Francisco Bay, San Jose covers an area of about 180 square miles. San Jose is the county seat of Santa Clara County, the most affluent county in California. San Jose’s location within the booming high tech industry, as a cultural, political, and economic center has earned the city the nickname “Capital of Silicon Valley”. Major global tech companies including Cisco Systems, eBay, Adobe Inc., PayPal, Broadcom, Samsung, Acer, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, and Zoom maintain their headquarters in San Jose, in the center of Silicon Valley.

San Jose is a city made up of many diverse neighborhoods, each with unique qualities. Almaden Valley, Willow Glen, Cambrian, Blossom Valley, Santa Theresa, Rose Garden, Evergreen, Alum Rock, Berryessa, and East Foothills, to name a few. Downtown San Jose is home to many fine restaurants and hotels, San Jose Convention Center, Theater for Performing Arts, California Theater, San Jose State University and the numerous neighborhoods listed, each have a Farmer’s Market. San Jose offers a diverse offering of architectural styles and several historic conservation districts with beautifully restored homes.
